About Roseline
I am a French and New Zealand painter based in Auckland. My work is a poetic exploration of femininity and an investigation into our societal heritage through female portrait and figure painting.

The female figure is one of the most traditional and ancient subjects in the history of art. Women, mostly painted or sculpted by men, often in the context of a mythological or historic scene. What happens when a woman paints a woman? Strength, vulnerability, control, fragility, the model is empowered to embody these expressions. My paintings are watching us while we are watching them. They become a mirror of the viewer’s soul and thoughts, imparting a variation of responses at any given time.
I have been a student at Browne School of Art in Auckland since 2013 and at the Angel Art Academy in Florence in June 2017. Until recently, I was part of the Akepiro street studios, a space hosting 15 artists in Eden Terrace, Auckland.
